Western Lake occasionally breaks through Grayton Beach and flows out into the Gulf of Mexico. This video shows an example of that outflowing fresh water into the Gulf. When we get some wave action in the Gulf, salt water will push back into the lake, creating a mixed environment of salt and fresh water in the lake.
The lake has been flowing out for about 3 days now, and you can see how exciting it is for everyone playing in the outflow.
